Welcome to OpenLoop!
We are a team of students from six universities competing in the SpaceX Hyperloop Pod Competition!
What about the competition?
It began as a challenge from SpaceX to engineers across the world to see who could develop the first prototype Hyperloop Pods. Now the thirty final teams are building their pods which will be put to the test at competition weekend in January 2017.
What is the Hyperloop?
The Hyperloop is a conceptual fifth mode of transportation that involves levitating vehicles, called pods, that travel through low pressure vacuum tubes. The concept was introduced by Elon Musk in 2013 and aims to provide a cheaper, more efficient, and more sustainable alternative to existing methods of transportation.
What about our pod?
The OpenLoop pod is designed to be 1/2 the scale of a full size Hyperloop pod. We aim to prove the viability of the Hyperloop concept by incorporating the following features in our design.
